We return to our heroes studying the notes of the late Nualia Tobyn, the daughter of the previous Priest of Sandpoint. Through her notes, they discovered her plan to use a demon bound in the dungeons of Thistletop to complete her rise to Fiendhood and destroy Sandpoint. Determined to prevent that from happening, the heros ventured further into the dungeon.
Entering the next room, they discovered an immense pillar of at first glance, tens of thousands of gold coins. Upon closer inspection however, it was discovered it was stone only made to look like coins. Chopska discovered two secret slots and deduced that inserting two coins would do, something at least. Upon entering the coins, they were surprised by the pillar descending into the ground below, opening the way forth into a crypt beneath. Quickly forcing opening the sarcophogoi, they were quick to determine that no undead lay inside. Unfortunately for them, it was only the shadows that remained of these poor souls, and Takko Shieldcleft, Chopska, and Ser Adoror felt their strength drain at the undead shade’s touch. After an exhausting fight they were able to repel these malevolent memories from the crypt. While everyone was distracted, Garram pilfered the corpses of their jewelry. The Heroes managed to find a secret door, discovering the shattered remains of a once great treasury. Among the remains, was a giant golden helmet, and it startled the heroes to see the helm turn around to look at them and charge!
Emerging from the helm was a giant hermit crab that decided to make the ancient war tool it’s home. Seeing prey, this 450 pound behemoth crushed Davian beneath it’s claws, but the combined effort of the heroes killed the beast. Deciding to take a night’s rest, they fed well on crab. Upon recovering a bit, they backtracked until they reached a room they had not been through before. Entering, they came upon a barren room, save for two statues and a marble throne between them. The Statues were of a stern and powerful looking man holding a glaive and a book. The same man sat on the throne, or at least, an image of the man. Seemingly stuck in an endless loop, Chopska was able to translate the man’s words for the rest of the party. The man spoke of someone called Alaznist, and about how his power would out shadow her own.
Moving on, the heroes came to a room with a grotesque and misshapen skeleton. It appeared to be a two headed man with the top half of a man coming from it’s back. The party decided to pilfer the tools on the table, and in doing so discovered a Sihedron shaped handle. Taking it with them, they found the next room contained a Sihedron shaped hole in the sealed door.
Inside this door, lay a chamber lit by many shadowy candles, with a large sihedron rune on the wall. Upon stepping inside this chamber, Malfeshnekor set forth his onslaught, starved insane through it’s thousands of years of captivity. Malfeshnekor had nearly slain the entire party, when the tide was turned by Chopska, weakening the demon enough for the heroes to slay it.
Examining the room, Garram found a silver coffer containing a mysteriously unique ring of Force Shield, bearing the same Sihedron star that was found on the wall and door. Upon returning through the dungeon, the party got in a disagreement on whether or not they should try to take the heavy gold helmet. Adoror showed a previously unknown greedy side and refused to leave without attempting to move it. Davian refused and left through an underwater tunnel on his own. While successful at swimming to shore, he got lost for several days in the Nettlewoods, and was abandoned by the party. Chopska coerced Garram into assisting through the use of his magic, and the party was able to move their loot safely through to the roads where they had hidden their wagons.
After a mostly uneventful (with the exception of a goblin attack.), trip back to Sandpoint, the heroes were given great gifts by the grateful citizens, and with their riches accumulated purchased a magic shop run by Chopska. The Magic shop being a front for a brothel and Thieves guild run by the rest of the party. So far this has been kept secret from Adoror.
Takko departed from the party, his job fulfilled and his heart calling for home in Janderhoff.
Avacyn and Davian also departed from the rest of the heroes, their own journeys calling them east.
