The Sandpoint Deputies decided to head south to Habe’s Sanatorium.
The journey was uneventful, passed only by the sweet sounds of Sven. Until the sun began to set that is, when darkness fell, the deputies felt almost suffocated by an unnatural silence, pierced by a chilling and terrifying bay that shook the very boots of the deputies. Edge, Sven and Edward took off in a panic. From the skies, a quadrupedal horse-like being with wings came down upon them, engulfing the remaining deputies and their Wagon in infernal flames.
The Heroes regrouped, with the exception of Edward, who found his wits again half a mile down the road. Messer decided to stay low and hide throughout the whole battle, drawing the ire of his new companions. With Edge assailing the beast with arrows, Chopska slinging spells, and the Blades and Hammer of Garram and Adoror, they managed to drive the beast back into a dimension door of it’s making. With the others who fled regrouping, they determined it couldn’t have fled too far.
Finding the lair, the Deputies made their final charge, determined to rid Sandpoint of this hated beast that has instilled fear in the citizens in the shadows of rumour and heresy for so many years now. The beast fought back fiercely, nearly killing our heroes, before Adoror unleashed an arrow blessed by Iomedae, and the beast erupted in a burst of hot ash. The heroes, finding the remains of many a adventurer and traveler, found a small collection of wealth in magic items and weapons.
With this little detour completed, the heroes continued on to Habe’s Sanatorium
